They tend to be more of a CC supporting type of weapon when compared to the other weapon types. If you are seeking raw damage, pain, and death upon all you fire upon, Phasers aren't the best choice when it comes to the different types. Your ship is fine and good for PvE, don't bring it into the big boy PvP area though, it's far too slow and very easy to zip circles around in a Herald Baltim Raider (which also thanks to the upgrade event I finally finished my Dual AP Cannon sets i've gathered or crafted for mine, ranging from Herald, Delphic, and custom crafted by me. Mines have worst "DPS" damage of any weapons, and Torpedos while sure, some can hit a target for a nice piece of damage, but they have long cooldowns which kills any good DPS numbers for them. The main reason why you don't want drive a mixed weapon cocktail ship is that you will have Ship gear either reputation sets or crafted etc, as well as a limited amount of traits you can use actively at a time which for a mixed weapon player will be sub-par DPS output compared to someone that has gear and traits all being used that add to singlar weapon type they use.īut i will also admit that pre level 50 players can sort of get away driving a confused mixed loadout of a ship as they are still grinding up different areas of their toon so they can get a ship set. And I used to use Dual AP H-Beams with either a Neutronic (in my opinion the best Torpedo to use) or a Quantum Phase Torpedo slotted (two really, one for borg targets and another for non-borg), with the other in my inventory so i could switch them out as needed (And i still carry the Neutronic and a borg damaging Quant Phase torp in my inventory today but have yet to use them since i stopped. (I'm a CritD focused DPS Anti-P Beam KDF Tac player. And don't use Mines or Torps with your Beams or Cannons. One of if not the best way to maximize your raw DPS damage totals, is to focus and use a single weapon type. Will you be a CritD focused captain or a CritH focused? Both have Pros and Cons, like a CritH player's Crit's will do less damage but happen on their own more often, while a CritD player with the right gear and traits being used (i'll explain how later) will Crit for goddly amounts of damage.Īlso a pro tip that someone enlightened me to a few years back and after years of playing STO (I cringed when saw a SS of your ship with 4 Trops and 4 energy weapons). Which playing STO mostly as a lone wolf player or someone always in a group will also influence your choices. ![]() There are many many questions you must first ask yourself regarding what sort of DPS player/captain you will be. Was fun times then.Īnywho, i'll digress and address a few things and speak on how things appear or seem from where i'm standing.ĭPS. And the entire map was small column of a few sectors (i'd say it was about 3 of today's grids) with a neutral zone between the Feds and KDF, and the K7 station the only place where toons could see/meet face to face anyone from the other faction (not counting ship PvP). I've been a STO player off and on since the beta days and when STO forced you to reach a Fed level before you could make a KDF toon, and the Klinks also still had zero story or content with only PvP and the same boring patrol missions to do (The PvP back then was perfect though). Might be confusing and/or overwhelming to you as it uses an Excel spreadsheet and is very very detailed in factoring any/every variable. ![]() โพสต์ดั้งเดิมโดย DInoSnack82:Here’s a question, what DPS website/program is best for monitoring DPS? not because your DPS will suffer, but because you're no longer master of the giant space laser. You'll also miss having a wicked-cool giant laserbeam when you stop using it. It's also easy to obtain for fed characters as compared to some of the other consoles in that set. It boils down to this - as console clicks go, it's one you can find use for on a regular basis even if it's gimmicky. and it stacks a resistance debuff on the target as you channel it, which is where the real dps improvement is likely to come from. It doesn't do phaser damage, it does kinetic damage, though with a 50% shield penetration. You'd never make it the centerpoint of your DPS by any means but its a big freakin' laser that lasts forever, or which is ready for re-use quickly. No matter if you have it for 60 seconds or you boost your phaser damage to the top.It serves the purpose of being wicked-cool. ![]() The laser itself is probably the most useless gimmick of the entire game. โพสต์ดั้งเดิมโดย "n3mes1s":The mining drill laser only serves purpose for the set bonus.
